I installed Macafee Netshield 4.63 perfectly on my Novell fileserver. It is running and protecting my Novell Fileserver.Just so everyone knows this is an ordinary Novell fileserver and not a firewall. But I can't get my workstation to connect to it with the macafee console.the workstation is running windows xp. Macafee says I need to open port numbers 34298 and 34299. How do i open tcpip ports on a Novell 6.5 Server?
Need Help!

Thanks,
Bill

mcafee are talking sh**
check with tcpcon

client should connect no probs
you would only need to check ports if firewall in the road
does your xp workstation have a wall on it?

As well as tcpcon, a good test is use telnet from your PC to see if the connection using the specific port number works. Eg..

telnet servername 34298

will check to see if the server responds to a connection request on port 34298. Telnet will either give you a blank screen (successful) or advise you that the connection cannot be made (unsuccessful).
