I'm new with linux and I need help on setting up a home network between a win98 pc and a pc with redhat 7.0. I read something about using samba, I've tried it but can't get it to work, can anyone mail me the complete settings for both the win pc and the linux pc, and which packages I need to install?

Samba is for file and printer sharing between windows and unix systems. Is that what you're having trouble with?

Perhaps you should check out they have a lot of good documentation (NHF's) aimed at new linux users.

I set up Samba just fine, the only problem is that I cannot use Samba to retrieve Windows files...access denied...

Windows can grab all the Samba's shares from my Linux machine just fine!!

Setting up Samba is not too hard...if you need help in specific areas, you can ask me...or if anyone can shread some light to my side of the little problem, please also post here to help me and TheBassPlayer out!!

tedson, I assume you have file shareing enabled on your win box and a directory shared out...?
