i have 4 digits coming on a t1.
how do i route DID to this existing extension that extension numbers already assigned. some of exts are 2500 set phones.
Vector routing
Call coverage of phantom station
Call forward of phantom station
Bridged appearance of phantom station
I prefer to use vectoring, particularly if this is a common number you have publish for your customers that is not specifically for any one person...More of a functional role. To use this method, you will need to create a vector with the following:
wait 2 sec hearing ring
route to number 1234 unconditionally with cov y
stop
Then you will need to create a VDN with the extension of the DNIS/DID number and point to the vector you just created.
The phantom phone methods are just another method. The caveat with the coverage setup is that call will not go in to the persons voice mail since it has already gone to cover (for the phantom). I assume that you want this call to go to voicemail if it is unanswered, so that option probably will not work for you.
The other method using a phantom is to forward the phantom phone to the other extension. This works well, but you must create a temporary bidged appearance to forward the call, but then you can delete it.
Lastly, you can program a bridged appearance of the phantom on the other extension. The problem with this method is that the coverage will be a little tricky...Likely that you will have to create a separate mailbox for the phantom.
The post isn't very clear, but if you just trying to translate the extension number, do it in the incoming call treatment of the trunk group form. Enter the Did local under called number, delete 4 digits and enter the target extension in the insert column. You only 18 lines to play with, so if there are more locals than that or there isn't some sort of 1 to 1 relationship (such as 65XX DID's converting to 54XX extensions) you run out quick.
