Need help on Catalog Rebuild

My client has Cognos Version 6 installed, and it links to a commercial SQL database CRM application. The guy who built the catalog didn't use the convention "table.field" in the creation of the catalog, and unfortunately it makes for extremely difficult de-bugging for my client as it is unclear in each report which field is being used from which SQL table/view. I know there is the facility to read the equivalent SQL script, but the client does not have extensive query language skills, so they have asked if it is possible to rebuild the catalog (to include the 'table.field' method), but I am pretty sure that will require a full re-write of their reports as they will no longer work with the new catalog.

Does anyone have any ideas how they can possibly help with this situation - Obviously, I don't want to re-build either the catalog or the reports if I can help it!

Desperately looking for inspiration.....

Have you saved the icr for the catalog? Yes, I've had to recreate catalogs, then re-direct the reports. The catalog icr has helped to clarify some of the issues.

Thanks - I will have a look while onsite tomorrow!

Appreciate the help for now

It might also be wise to check the weighting of the tables in the existing catalogue and mark on the icr you generate; Impromptu v7.0 doesn't record weighting (unless, of course, I have failed to set mine up correctly, in which case please excuse this posting!)
