Need help mounting usb archos jukebox to Linux (RH9)

I am having trouble connecting my archos jukebox studio 10 to my RedHat 9 box via a usb connection. I double-checked my kernel and I compiled usb into the kernel. If you can direct me to a FAQ or link that would be great, or simply point out my incompetence (in a nice way, fragile psyche.)
