I'm looking for WD360ADFD hard drive or a hard drive similar that I can use in an older Dell OPtiplex. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

WD1500BLFS & WD3000BLFS VelociRaptor, larger capacity, same interface...

but if you do not need the extra umph and are content with regular transfer rates, e.g. along the lines of office work etc. then any SATA drive would do...

I think we need some better information, such as why do you want a 36GB Raptor now?

Please post the specs of the Optiplex, or at least the model #, and we could help a little more.

What sort of budget are you on?

Have you checked eBay for 36GB Raptors?

From the wording of your original question, I'm guessing no RAID is involved, and you're just looking for anything compatible. If that's the case, then anything with a SATA (1, 2, or even the not yet released 3) connection should work.

Hey kjv,

dprice02 is MIA, but I can think of (5) good reasons why he/she would want a 36 GB Raptor now...and that would be my server I built in 2005 w/ RAID 1 & RAID 5 arrays, all 36GB Raptors, five of them. To date, I have replaced a few, but they've all been warranty replacements. I have a couple of spares that I tend to use for experiments with my home PC and different OSes, they are quite manly drives!

I'm sure the 36GB Raptor is nice. I've got a few of the 74GB Raptors myself, and for my main system, I'd not use anything but a Raptor (or VelociRaptor if I had the cache... or maybe thew Intel SSDs or similar... [wink])

But from the context, I just can't see him/her wanting it b/c of a RAID configuration. I mean, I could imagine it, true, but I just don't want to guess at it.

...or I could see myself using IODrives for my hard drives, but again, money is a tiny problem. [wink]
