Need help in Micros9700 3.2 SQL

Hello Everyone
I need to ask 1 question that in micros9700 ver 3.1 SQL2000
I need to change the server name
Can I change the server name it will effect the micros or sql
because has all the client diskless so if i change the name there will be no issue in POS client but i only need to know about server

When I was doing 9700 builds the server name was always set before installing. I have not seen anyone successfully change the name, but that doesnt mean its impossible. We would detatch the DBases and copy necessary files, then perform a clean build.

Yes i am also doing same like this but now situation is this that this customer is not a new installation they want to change the name of server 1 solution is this that i will install 1 backup pc and restore the database there and reinstall the micros server
