Everytime I try to open up regedit or task manager, they open and then close down within a second...something is closing these so I can't make changes. However, I can access them fine in safe mode. Anyone know what files or where to look in my registry to see what is doing this? I need to get rid of whatever it is. Thanks.

Re crow's suggestion FAQ760-3862 contains a list of online scan sources. I've seen the trend micro suggested a lot, I've used the panda soft.

If the same software that is causing the registry problems would also be blocking workings of an on-line scan, another suggestion I've seen made is to download and run f-prot's dos av scanner.

Start your computer in safe mode with network support and then access the registry editor or online scans.

If this is XP or ME, be sure to disable System Restore or when you do get rid of the problem, next re-boot will put it back!
