Hello everyone,

I just recently purchased a GQ3121 EliteGroup Computer which included an install of Linspire 4.5... Which might have been ok, if they didn't try to charge me for free software. Oh, and it didn't come with any kind of restore disc that I can find...

So, I stripped it of Linspire and installed Windows 2000 Pro. (I don't have a legal copy of XP just laying around...) - I had a lot more problems than I expected doing this, but I got it done.

It runs just fine, with the exception of some VERY important drivers. When I go to device manager, here's the list of what it says the problem is.

Ethernet Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
PCI Device
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I also ran a couple of reports from Sisoftware Sandra:

Biochemlab,

It appears that all the "missing" items are related to the mobo.

Go to the mobo mfg site and get the driver packages for this board and as it appears the SiS stuff. Install them.

This should get your system back in good health.

I was able to find all of the drivers around the internet today except the one for the USB.

I looked on the SiS website and found this:

They can't let me download the USB driver. I've looked all over Microsoft.com with no luck too...

I'm one step away... Here's the USB info.
Thanks again!!

Biochemlab,
Go to the mobo mfg site and get the driver packages for this board

You will ahve to determine the mobo model number as the number you have provided is most probably the system number and is not represented on their site as a motherboard model.

You have to go to the board manufacturers site for this as I previously stated. Here is the link:

EliteGroup Site

I hope you find what you need here

You quoted "Model : SiS-741"
You should be able to find the motherboard from that, plus being able to see a picture of the motherboard.
Once you locate what you think is the motherboard, based on pics and "sis-741 chipset" perhaps you could even double-check by looking at the bios updates for that motherboard, see if any of the bios's listed there are the bios you have installed at this time.
Otherwise, you could use this support page, i think its a standard email:

It seems to me they answered my last inquiry pretty quickly.
