I'm getting about 10 e-mails a day from my FBSD PC. They are system and security related log files. The are stamped with the username "Charlie Root" and I believe they are being sent via sendmail. I must have put in my e-mail address and turned on the logging feature during installation, but I don't remember doing so. And I have no clue on how to deactivate it. I looked under sysctl.conf, rc.conf, sendmail.cf. Nothing.... My questions are: How can I change the e-mail address that the logs are getting sent to? and How can I change/deactivate the service? Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks a lot.

1) Those root e-mails can be very important. They can tell you a lot about security and configuration problems. I would NOT turn them off or ignore them. I get 2 per day, per host, an end of week and end of month e-mail as well.

2) The address can be changed in /etc/mail/aliases (close to the top (root: your@email.addy)) Dont forget to run the command 'newaliases' after editing that file.

Hope that helps,
