Im not sure if im even in the right forum but I need help creating a online phone directory. I have no programming knowledge, but I know copy and paste. I work for a school district and every year I have to compile a new phone list, this year Im wanting to create a online phone directory that has different fields in it like room number, the teachers name, the subject they teach, and there extension. I would like to set it up online like a editable database and if possible make it password protected so only those who have the password can change the fields, if say a secretary at one site edits it, I would like the changes to be forwarded to me in a e-mail so I can make the necessary changes in our phone system. Can someone point me to the right forum if I have posted in the wrong forum.

Thanks

Certainly this is possible. YOu will need to get programming knowledge however. What database backend are you planning to use and what were you planning to program the front end with? Will it be a windows application or a web application?

Questions about posting. See faq183-874

How many people will be accessing the contact database??

I suspect M$ Access could handle most situations from it's native format to web pages (data access pages).

The advantage of Access is that it is well suited for those new to databases and programming, but still has a lot of punch.
