Hi,

I'm an Intuity guy thrust into supporting an Octel and have a user requesting the ability to allow users to press a button and page her through instructions left in her greeting.

So, in essence, "Hi, thanks for calling. I'm away from my desk, but if you'd like to page me please press 1 (or 0, etc) now."

The goal is to allow users to reach her metrocall pager.

Not quite sure how to configure that and was wondering if anyone had a guide or a walkthrough that they could post.

I've tried searching, but am not familiar enough with the octel terminology to phrase it right.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

It is possible in OCTEL 200/300 and VMX-100.
Is your system one of these above mentioned?

if it is an aria 250 or 350 they can us the paging outcall feature but you can't do what you asked for without a 3rd party app

This facility is possible using the the Personal Assistance
feature, that you find in the user's mailbox after logging on to it.
The Menu 16-5 is where you enter the speed dialling number for the mobile phone or pager.
This number has to be entered in the OCTEL 200/300 as a mailbox.
The user has to re-record his/her welcome message telling caller to press zero (0) to be transferred to the moblie phone.
An example of the profiles for this feature is given in the next message window...

Here are the two profiles.
COS=0 is for the user mailbox with greeting telling callers to press zero(0) to be transfreed to the mobile phone or pager.

COS=1 is for the speed dialling number (abbreviated dialling number) that should be programmed in the PBX.

Here are the profiles.

Create a mailbox for the user (1111) and the speed dialling number (2222):

.A USER ---> ex. 1111,0
.A USER ---> ex. 2222,1

Any questions?
Let us know.

If you are familiar with CLI (command line interfaces) and know ho to set up (e.g.)Hyperteminal to 9600/7/E/1, you can easiliy logon to the OCTEl 200/300 from the COM port just inside the cabinet.
After logon (if the password is available), you will find your way up to the update menu, by pressing U and enter.
Hereafter .l profile will give you an idea of the mailbox profiles created in the system.
Remember that the commands should be send in the correct order, which is .a cos / .a info / .a sch .
A schedule ties a COS and an INFO table together.

Let's hear about your success!
