Need Help choosing backup solution

I have a 60GB HD but only about 20-25GB is used. I want to be sure that the ENTIRE contents are backed up each night (Monday-Thursday). Should I just buy 4 external 40GB USB hard drives at a cost of $1,152 and ghost an image each day, or get a tape backup system that would cost more?

Which brands should I stay away from? Which are reliable?
