need help adding expansion to BCM 400 4.0

Currently have 2 32DSM, and 2 DTM PRI in the main chassis. I must add the expansion and another 32dsm. I am not sure on the bus arrangement. Any advice would be great. Can I put the DSM on the expansion or do I need to totally reset the mbm modules.

Yes, you can add the DSM 32 in the expansion cabinet in any slot. You need to check which BUS, using element manager, the other cards are in to determine which BUS to use for the new DSM32. You then need to set the dip switches for the new card.

Awesome news. I did notice that the expansion does not show up like a BCM 50 does. Will the DSM32 show up once I get it into the correct slot? I have to make the 5meter cable and was testing tonight with a few other length cables and the expansion never shows up in element manager.

it might be best just to purchase the cable made for the expansion cabinet. I'm surprised it didn't come with one.

The expansion doesn't really display like the BCM 50 or 450. once you set the dip switches and put the card in any slot...power it up. everything should come up, as long as the power and status lights on the expansion and card are solid green. sometimes you need to connect a phone to a port on the card for it to say "enabled" under Telephony Resources. Obviously if the phone is up then the card is working.

Again though, that cable between the main cabinet and expansion is extremely specific in length.

You do have to tell what is in that BUS under resourses and the bus #.
