Need hardware help from Canon BJC-4000 expert, please

My Canon BJC-4000 was not detecting the cartridges, so I bought and put in a new BC-21e Cartridge/Printhead Assembly with new ink tanks and am still having the same problem.
When I power on the printer, it beeps once and the printhead goes back and forth and then to the center. Then it beeps once again and the Power light is on, On Line light is flashing, HS light is off, HQ light is on, Error light is off. Then when I press and hold down the On line button, the printer beeps 3 times and all of the lights stay the same and the printhead stays in the center. I also have cleaned the contacts on both the printhead cartridge and holder. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Usually cartridge sitting in middle with flashing light imdicates faulty cartridge. You may have been unlucky enought to strike 2 faulty cartridges but unlikely. More probabley a damaged logic board. Try inserting a BC-20 and see what happens. If same results, start looking for a new printer.
