the user guide that comes with the software just isn't detailed enough, and the help files, well, aren't always very helpful. As much as I like using this message board, I'd like to figure some things out on my own as well. I am interested in something that has a lot of detail on using variables, grouping, formatting, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, I know some of you are instructors. Do you have texts with exams, or workbooks with problems and answers? That'd also be a nice way for me to learn without spending a ton of money on going to short classes that are too rushed.

Dear ddnh,

You can also go to and buy his courseware. George Peck's books are always very good too!

But, one of the best ways is to find problems and then solve them (or try to) like the ones that are posted here in tek-tips.

I have gone out and bought a SQL book frfom a local bookstore; and am also debating going back for the "Crystal for Dummies" book... I have never bought any of the "for dummies" books; but there are days in which I am sure I qualify as far as crystal goes...

Thanks for all of your help. I've ordered the George Peck book.

I learned Crystal on a training CD, a much better way to learn since it shows you what can be done Madawc Williams
