What are some general tips to know when installing apache in /usr/local/apache

I understand this will create new apachectl file, as well as a new httpd and httpd.conf What should I do as not to get confused with the old ones?

Hi,

During configure, you can specify
--prefix=/usr/local/apache and it will install everything under this directory. It wont go out of it. But if you have old apache running, make sure on the new apache you use different port number in httpd.conf file.

I assume you install from source.

regards,
feroz
