need formula to select records for last month

I have a report I am trying to create that I will be refreshing on a monthly basis. The report is for historical trending and will contain twelve months data. I need a statement that will select only the records for the previous month - do I write a formula off of currentdate - if so how?? do I use my record month field??

I cannot simply specify the name of the last month as the people using this report will not be expected to change this.

I don't know what version of Crystal you're on, but in later versions there's a LastFullMonth function which does exactly this.

i.e.

{Date} in LastFullMonth

would get you everything in December.
