Hi All,

Are there people participating in this forum who run Linux
4.7 or higher on SuperMicro Superservers ?

I want to buy a Superserver system to run FreeBSD and cannot
make up my mind as to what to buy.

Supermicro's tech support seems to be more confident
about Linux compatibility with their older Pentium III based SUperserver systems.

I need this server to be very stable, however I am somewhat
reluctant to buy a Pentium III based system after Pentium 4 has been out there for about 2 years now.

Please share your experience (if you have any) of running Linux on SuperMicro's Superservers. I'd appreciate if you
could provide a detailed spec of your hardware system and list issues and problems you have run into if any.
Please specify what flavor/version of Linux you have used.

One more question: I've heard from some people that allegedly Pentium III based servers work... faster than those based on Pentium IV. CAN THIS BE TRUE ?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE !

My question is about LINUX.
The reference to FreeBSD inside the body of my original
posting is simply a typo.

Still waiting for feed back from people running
LINUX (not FreeBSD) on Superserver systems from
SuperMicro.

Thanks !

This is a very broad question... Why not ask the same about Dell, Gateway and any of the other thousands of server builders?

I use Linux on a Superserver with a P3 and it works. But it works on the other 10 servers too!
