I have a client-server application which requires a specific System DSN name for generating reports from it. I now have a few users who need to generate reports from different installations of the application.

This can be done if the Server name in the System DSN is changed to the server they desire. However, having them do this when they want to change servers is quite cumbersome.

Does anyone know a way to make changing the Server name easier for end users (i.e., by clicking on an Icon)? The PCs being used are still running W95 so the solution has to be compatible back to that version of windows.

Thanks!

Hammer,

Hi I have a similar thing, I currently use about 5 different ODBC data sources.

The way that I do it is that I have set up different icons, that all run the same software, but from different locations on the HD, ie

c:\report1\????
c:\report2\????
etc

and each one is looking at a different system DSN entry set up in ODBC, I know its a bit cumbersome, but it works..!!

I think that may help, or have I missed the point (it is friday evening after all).
