I'm looking for a programmer who can help me

I need a cgi script that will allow my customers who are DJ's or have record labels to update their websites on their own,...

features required:

ability to integrate with existing pages, to be able to tag a portion of an existing html page inorder to make it editable with a WYSIWYG editor/interface, should be very easy to use for non-technical users

user must be able to edit specific text portions of different pages, in order to make updates to bio, charts, news, etc...

it would also be nice if the user could create new pages based on a specific template, and have links to the new pages added to a sub-menu, or index page... this would be for record labels who want to add, or remove artist pages from their site

Image Gallery - very important! these people love pictures, they need an interface that allows them to upload and manage a gallery, with automatic thumbnail creation, and the script should take care of everything to assemble a functional gallery, with different viewing modes, one at a time, or slide show....

the ability to upload files, and create and name links for them at the same time, usually .rm or .mp3 files, but maybe .mov too.... it should allow them to add a detailed description of the file that will be visible on the site, for example a DJ/producer wants to upload a sample of their latest song, with information about it, release date, quotes from reviews, etc....

sorry I don't know too much about cgi, but I'm learning, I've seen applications that do some of these things, but not all of them in one... I'm wondering if it would be possible to sort of cobble together some existing open source apps...

compensation is negotiable ;)

It probably is possible. I suggest posting your job and potential compensation range at I've hired some good people off there.

The folks here are great as well, hopefully someone responds.

Your definently asking for a'contract' situation though, what your asking for is fairly extensive.

there is a lot of demand for this kind of thing, I wonder if the developer would be content to just start licensing it, and they can have my idea for free, they could easily license it for $100 each, I could sell quite a few of them.... just an idea

There is a demand for a free version but not a paid version. In this market, if people will pay for something its usually done fairly rapidly.

Many things like postnuke etc do this sort of thing and through existing extensions can do the rest (image libraries etc).

I agree, it would be great to have a '1 size fits all' but its not out there yet and for some reason no one can come up with a reason to build it. My personal feeling is that this is because everyones idea of perfect is different..

not sure I follow you about the demand vs. price thing, I know I can easily get people to pay an extra $100 for something like this, and there are so many independant record labels, dj's, bands, singers, etc... that have websites, or really want websites, and especially the ones who already have websites will be blown away when they hear that for just an extra couple hundred bucks they can have their own web based interface to make updates themselves, without having to deal with the web designer, and make as many changes as often as they want, at 3 o'clock in the morning, from any computer in the world...

I started intalling something like this for real estate agents, that's how I got the idea, since most of my clients are dj's and record labels, they'd love something like that too, there are tons of packages out there for real estate, but none specifically for music sites

so yeah I might end up just paying someone to do it, but I think the right coder could end up making a lot more in the long run if they look at it more as a business opportunity, or maybe I should just be greedy and buy the thing and license it out myself ;)

If I were you and I was so assured of the situation I'd monopolize it immediately! Greed Is Good :)

I personally don't think there is a market there, you can get 50% or 75% for free, why pay for the extra 25%?
