Hello,

I need to import a winzip file on a mac.
Need to decompress this. It is sent obviously from a pc using who claims that other mac photoshop users have "unzipped" winzip files using photoshop on a mac. Is there a plug in or version of photoshop for mac that automatically changes formats.

Ive never seen it.

Help please soon!
thank you kindly,
PTT :)

zipped files are the pc equivelent of stuffed files on the mac (or visa versa, who knows!). Luckily, Stuffit Expander from Aladdin Systems is capable of decompressing both. You can download it for free:

blueark is correct. You may be dealing with Windows XP users who can access zip files in the Windows Explorer because of built-in zip support. Photoshop could not open a zip file on its own.

ok. thanks.

One more important question.
when I use stuffit it says to drop the file
then it's hard to tell where it went
i know it uses a .sit extention
i can use the find method to find it

but by default after you drop your file in stuffit
where does it go usually?
back to the same directory?

PTT :)

Huh? You are trying to decompress this thing, right? You should not be making a SIT archive. Stuffit can stuff and unstuff a file. Make sure you are trying to unstuff (COMMAND-E, for 'Extract') the zip file.

The uncompression program should have a preferences dialog where the default file location can be set. I believe the default location is in the same place as the archive you want to extract.

The output of the uncompressed ZIP will not be SIT. It should be the actual graphic.
