I have searched Dell's driver download site and have been successful in locating this driver.

Anyone have any better way to locate it?

Knowledge comes from experience, if they don't help uninstall them or use System restore.

TOO ambiguous... There are dozens of different codecs out there!!! see: and on the left side, click on VIDEO CODECS and you will get the picture...

How would I know, download and install and see if it works?
Yep! there is no other way... You also need to be more specific with what the problem is and what you are looking for, in the future...

This codec pack has all the CODECs you will ever gonna need and I've been using it for years:

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

Ben:
What else could I tell you that would make it more specific?

Thanks,

Doug

what you are trying to do, e.g. watch an MPG, or DivX movie, etc...

but the answer has already been posted twice now...

and it is: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack...

That did the trick... thanks everyone. Ben asked, b/c if I needed to provide more info to help identify the problem I wanted to do so.

Thanks again,

Doug

I am not a lawyer but to my reading it says there was a dispute involving Apple Inc., but the offending software was withdrawn from the "Mega Codec Pack" and the removed part has to be downloaded separately.

"K-lite Mega Codec Pack
In the past, the K-lite Mega Codec Pack combined the contents of K-Lite Codec Pack Full, QuickTime Alternative and Real Alternative. However, The QuickTime Alternative support was discontinued on June 5 2007, because of legal threats from Apple Inc. Now QuickTime content is played through ffdshow

Therefore, the K-lite Mega Codec Pack currently combines only the contents of K-Lite Codec Pack Full and Real Alternative (QT Lite is provided only as a separate package)".

The best thing to do in the future is download G-Spot, it's a codec analyser and will tell you what codecs you're missing to play a certain file. Have a look on and download it from there.

As an aside, I have found that the VLC player means I don't need to install codec packs as it plays most file types just fine.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

Is it safe to download the free K-Lite Mega Codec Pack ?
one word yes...

the legality paragraph you linked to, is as Linney mentioned taken care of, plus the original post on wikipedia links to a FORUM on RealNetworks which is dated 2004!
