need an app to troubleshoot communication on ports.

I'm looking for a program to test network communication on specific ports.

The application i'm trying to troubleshoot is really simple. The client communicates with server on port x thru tcp and udp.

I want to try and mimic this with another application, preferably a simple executable on the client and server that doesn't need to be installed.

Anyone know of something like this?

You have to really play with this one to see how usefull it can be.
