Hi all!

I am in the midst of migrating from Google sites to a Joomla! + site template.
I could use some suggestions on what layout to go with.

At the moment, in Google sites, I have a very outdated layout with frames. It's the typical 3 frames one. It has a 200px vertical column on the left, then the right column is divided in one small/short top to host the webfolio title, then a taller column right underneath the title.
As you can see I'm using the left narrow left vertical to show "News". Which is a feature I intend to keep somehow.
In the new Joomla! template there's a top images slider. I would like to keep that feature too.

In the "Galleries" page, works are organized in basically 2 main types:
1. 3D works, and
2. Drawing & illustration.
With their respective subcategories. Eg: Most recent, recent, and older.
"Most recent 3d work", "Recent 3d work", "Older 3d work", "Most recent Drawing & illustration", and "Older Drawing & illustration".

I am pretty sure there should be a better way to lay it all out.

Thanks in advance guys :)
