I am considering getting an Asus VN279QL monitor 27". It is slightly used.
At the moment I have an Acer X243w 24"

The Asus monitor says its native resolution is 1920 by 1080. While that of the Acer is 1920 by 1200. But the Asus says it's Full HD. Would that make the Asus monitor better even though its resolution is lesser?
The Contrast ratio on the Asus is considerably higher.
And the Asus monitor is much more recent than my Acer.

Is it worth getting this monitor now? Or should I still hang in there for a year or so before it's worth getting a better monitor?

I am using a Geforce GTX 950.
I use both Windows 10, and Ubuntu.

Better is subjective. 1920 x 1080 is Full HD, as in what an HD television resolution is. it is 16 x 9 the 1920 x 1200 is a 16 x 10. What would be better is if one of them was an IPS panel instead of a TN ( twisted nematic). If there is nothing wrong with the Acer, than no, most likely not worth upgrading to, unless you get it at a steal.
