Hi everybody,

I recently got a job as a teradata developer(The clinet is initiating a project with teradata as target database).can anybody tell me what would be my responsibilities as a teradata developer and on what subject areas,i have to concentrate more.It would be very helpful to me if any of you can guide me through this.

Eagerly waiting for your reply,

Thankyou,
balaji.

Hi,
First congradulations on your new job.

Second.

Wouldn't your responsibilities be defined by the company you are working for?

I mean if they want you to be the Database Administrator (DBA), you would do DBA type work.

If they want you to Write Applications, you would do Application programmer type work.

A good place to start is Online Documentation.

Click on Teradata Data Warehouse

for topics about the Database server engine.

Click on Teradata Database

For topics about writing applications against Teradata

Click on Teradata Tools and Utilities

You might want to order a FREE Demo copy of the Teradata software which will give you all of the manuals available online on a single CD, plus some sample applications.

Hope this helps. If you have more specific questions feel free to post them here.

Thanks for your reply.I already started learning Teradata utilities.I have been recruited as an application programmer.can u be bit brief ,what we will be doing as an application programmer(like writing fastload, multiload scripts etc).

Waiting for your reply,

Thank you,
ben.

Applications developer?
Either you'll be writing front-ends to the database.
or you'll write abi-initio jobs that translate extracts from other databases and loads it into Teradata.
