Hi, We are going to install 02 CS1000E Rls 5.5 PBX with 100 IP ext in both PBX with SIP connectivity of both PBX and a callpilot 600r at both site..
I was reading NTP`s of planning and engineering about LAN/SIP tips and it has a lot and i cant summarize especially about LAN requirements/Tips.
I need some good tips and advice about LAN and switches configuration e.g VLAN, Switches speed.
I will be thankful if somebody briefly help me in points to create a installation requirement documentation for customer.
Regards

1.Gigabit ethernet on LAN w/ Power over ethernet and turn on Auto-Negotiate. Make Sure in the pbx you turn on Auto-Negotiate. Some say to turn off spanning tree protocol on the data switches for all ports assigned to pbx function to minimize delay during failover leadership election process between sig servers etc.

2.Create a VLAN for your TLAN and a seperate one for your ELAN. Make sure the TLAN and ELAN are in seperate networks(ie.- 192.168.10.0/24 for TLAN and 192.168.20.0/24 for the ELAN) Generally all VLAN and ELAN ip addresses set to the pbx, signalling servers, MGC, MC32, Call Pilot, Miran and Mgate are static. The phones should be dynamically assigned for efficiency.

2.Use full DHCP but incorporate the Nortel DHCPRespondString script that includes S1 and S2 (Node ip addresses) default gateway and registration port 4100 etc. in the DHCP server. Also set VLAN id in the DHCP server for ip address range used for phones(all phones in the same VLAN). Make sure the DHCP server is supplying a range ip addresses for the ip phones that are in the same network as the S1 Node Ip address.

3.When you fire up your IP Phones set them in the configuration to full DHCP and arrow down to Voice VLAN and set that to DHCP and then reset and your phones should and get their Ip Addresses, VLAN tag and find the S1 for registration and firmware update.

4.Make your Signalling servers in the setup (usually two per pbx for redundancy) backup each other for Sip gateways, LTPS, H323 gateways and NRS etc.(ie.-Primary and Secondary etc.) Use loadsharing on the LTPS servers.

Thanks Jack for the tips. Any more tips/advice from other???
