Hello

I just bought a new laptop and it came with Vista installed.
I ran a new program from a source that I trust and it said I needed admin rights to be able to run it. I checked my account and it IS an admin account.

Anyone have any ideas what's going on here, please?

Regards

Have you verified with the author that this program is compatible with Vista? (what program is it?).

Are you referring to the UAC warning? If you answer 'yes' does it continue?

In Vista even as an Administrator you are still only running with privileges that are less than an Administrator in XP. This is part of Vista's heightened security procedures.

Try right-clicking on the exe you wish to run and click on "Run as administrator" and see if that helps.

This explains it a bit more.

Follow linney's instructions, we had a program that did the exact same thing, and once we right-clicked and clicked "Run as Administrator", that solved all our problems.
