Documents that I am preparing have a section that needs a heading. Subheadings within include: acronyms, initials, definitions, standards and codes, company internal references, external references, legislation, regulations.

Anyone feel up to the challenge?

How about "References?"

Are all of those to be grouped into one section?

What ties them all together? Knowing that will help to come up with a heading.

It seems to be that acronyms, initials, definitions, standards and codes, company internal references and external references all might belong in some type of "Legend", "Key" or "Glossary" section. But I don't understand how legislation and regulations fit with the others.

Or "Appendix?"

I'd put the acronyms, initialisms, and definitions in a Glossary, then give each of the remaining items their own Appendix.

The documents are technical specifications needed to design or purchase goods or services. I have elected to round these all up into one corral and place it near the front of the doc.

Because two of the subheadings are reference related, I don't feel (at the moment) that reference is the correct word for the group.

Appendix relates to added stuff at the end of a doc.

In all the technical documents I have written or edited, these would be appendices. If you don't want to go that route, how about:

So how about "Technical Dictionary?"

'Miscellanea' and 'Technical Dictionary' are good...so far.

Well, I'd suggest "Tek-Tips," but that's already been taken...

There is nothing wrong with a compound heading: Terminology and References.

STAR TO SANTAMUFASA FOR HIS EXCELLENT IDEA.

That doesn't preclude other ideas, but his term seems to be the best fit.
