I keep running into IP address conflict. We assigned static IP's to each piece of equipment on the network but somehow they get dropped. Does anyone have a utility that can track all the used IP addresses on a network? [cry]

Is there the option of creating a DHCP scope and automating the process? You may have a good reason for doing this. Let the server do the work for you so you can worry and focus on the more important problems.

I have just moved from a WINS NT4.0 domain to a Win2k Dynamic DNS (using DHCP) and have to say, i am very happy.

I use to have an excel spread sheet with all the different subnets. It was a nightmare, but necessary to avoid your problem.

You can use an IP scanner to see what's in use e.g. superscan 3.0 from
This will tell you what's in use at the moment and can resolve the names. It's not a management tool, but will help you out.

Or you could ping or tracert every host on your network...
