I have 6 Netware servers and 4 NT/2000 servers. We would like to switch to Netbackup. Would it be better to use Netbackup for Netware and use the clients for the Windows servers or use Netbackup for Windows and use the clients for Netware. This is a Novell shop. Also, can I use Arcserve tapes w/Netbackup? Thanks.

If you are willing to spend the money with Netbackup for your shop, I would use the Windows Server as a Master server with the others as clients. YOu cannot use Arcserve tapes with NetBackup. You can however recycle the tapes to be used but NetBackup cannot read Arcserve written data.

If you want to save money, and a better solution for a small environment use NetVault. You can download a trial version from It is very easy to use.

I mean Backup Exec. Can BackupExec read Arcserve data?

I know this is not the Backup Exec forum, but Backup Exec can read ARCseveIT Tapes.
