hi All

Looking for a good Transact SQL book. Just placed an order on Amazon for 'Transact-SQL Cookbook' by O'Reilly Windows and wondering whether it's the best one now after reading the reviews on US Amazon (there weren't any on the UK site).

I've been looking at Kenneth Henderson's book 'The Guru's Guide to Transact SQL' but although this is aimed at SQLServer, could I make use of it for Sybase as it gets good reviews? I've done a little bit of T-SQL and feel fairly confident with general SQL so I'd like a book that's medium to advanced level.

Any recommendation appreciated.

Many thanks

Note.

Both of those books are for Microsoft Ms-Sql. There are some differences in the way T-SQL in Microsoft SQL Server compared to Sybase works.

You are best off checking out the Sybase PDF's online.

They are free and the most complete/accurate for Sybase.

hi JeanNiBee

I realise the books I mentioned are for SQLServer. I'm hoping they'll help me a bit. I'm currently working from an SQLServer book and fingers crossed, not encountered too many problems yet. I wish there were more Sybase specific books on the market as it's been around for a while now.

Could you give me the URL to the Sybase PDF's?

thanks again

HEy

Try here:
Look at the Transact SQL Server Guide and the Users Guide.

Hope this helps.

Another good T-SQL book that I use constantly, since I am a SQL Server DBA, is "Transact-SQL" by William C. Amo. Found on IDG books.

Thanks
