I used to use NetBeans and it was recently revised/updated and now I hate the way it is laid out and is not user-friendly to me at all.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good (free) Java2 platform and where to find it...

Thanks,
Jana

I prefer JBuilder but eclipse is used by many companies and it is also the tools in WebSphere Application Developer

JBuilder is top dog for GUI development, right after VI.
Personally I never liked Netbeans until the current 4.0 beta :) which looks nice but is sadly still too slow to be useful (having to sometimes wait a minute or more when scrolling a page of code is simply unacceptable).

Eclipse is the best free thing I've ever seen. Not only do you get a really good professional editor, but you can also get plug-ins for it which do almost anything.
Liam Morley

"light the deep, and bring silence to the world.
light the world, and bring depth to the silence."

Bah, Emacs is god!!! Bow to RMS.... Oh, I mean...
I perfer Emacs, but what I've seen of Eclipse it's really nice... I have a copy of forte I used a few times, and I don't mind it all too much... But give me Emacs and plain text to make my gui's anyday.
