i changed the graphics from jpegs to gifs as old did and wanted to see if the download time has gotten any better. and yes old the buttons are inactive. and yes i do have an idea where i'm going with this. (just in case you were wondering..)

The movie on level0 dictates the background colour, so if you load a white movie on top it has a transparent backgrond.

if it takes old three minutes, it would probably take me all night. Remember, even these threads take over a minute (at least) to download for me to view on this connection.
I kinda figured that they weren't the same movie, what I meant was that if you're using a loadmovie action then subsequent movies are transparent. ie: at pinkzeppelin, the cube is a separate swf loaded into level 1, which happened to be created on a white background, not grey.
