I'm using CS2 and am trying to create a booklet using InBooklet SE. The newsletter I'm printing is 10 pages, so pgs 5-6 will be inserted but not stapled.

InBooklet does not impose the pages correctly since it's looking for a 12 page booklet, it adds blank pages at the beginning and end.

I do not want to mess up the auto pagination by inserting extra pages to make up for the imposing error.

Any thougts as to how to fix this?

How do you expect imposition to occur on a 10-page doc whether you use InBooklet or not? InBooklet is performing correctly.

Break out pages 5 & 6 in a new document and manually impose.

Ok you don't have to separate your document or your pagination.

What you need to do is this:

In the Layout and Pages: All or Range

Chooes Range and input this

1-4,7-10

Now you have an 8 page booklet

Select Create New Document if you wish, or you can just print this off.

Now Open Inbooklet again,

for the range select

5-6

But make sure you have it set for

2-up Consecutive, so pages 5 and 6 are facing each other

Unfortunately the backs of pages 5 and 6 are going to be blank.

This is because your document has 10 pages.

If your document has 12 pages, 2 blanks at the back then you won't get this problem. For imposing (or inbooklet) you need to have a page count that is divisible by at least 4.

4 does not go into 10 evenly.

Thanks for the tip. Sometimes I look for a much more difficult way to accomplish simple tasks (I was looking at the section/page numbering.)
