Is there a program where you can limit the rights of a user's on the mat terminal to just add, moves, & changes?
nothing else. This is the bright idea again of our IT manager.

I've never tried to set up users with different access levels before but if you are installing the software on different terminals it is possible to delete out commands. Your big problem is defining "adds moves and changes". This IT manager sounds a bit strange to me, is he a bit of a control freak? What has prompted the need to restrict access in this way? Next thing you know he will change the password and leave the company without telling anyone what it is. Take backups now just incase! as I don't believe even NEC can break the password on a large system.

If anyone wants to prove me wrong however.

Control freak is a small part of it, you can also add dumbass in the mix. The reason he wants to know is because we have two different I.T departments, one is our I.T government and the other is the casino I.T which have to be licensed by the state of Arizona to work in the casino. So his bright idea is to hand over admin rights to the casino I.T department who let me point this out have never had any telecom. background or NEC training. Sabotage is what I'm expecting from this manager, he still trying to get his cisco voice over in the door. The transition is impossible and here is the reason why, He wants to give them admin rights for the 2 casino's but we provide one with dialtone and the other has its own 2400IMx & is to far to backfeed DTMF. He wont upgrade or bring in another to CCIS the 2 casino's.

Then make him learn instead of doing the job for him. Throw him back the question, which commands would he like them to have access to and then don't tell him what command does what. Above all make sure you have a backup before he decides to start changing passwords!

You need to start making influential friends as well.

If you want to install a version that will only run certain commands. you can install a full version then find the directory its in. Go into the BIN folder and you will find all the executables associated with each command. Simply delete the ones you don't want them to have. Or better still move them somewere only you have access to and then if you are ever at that machine and need them you can just pull them back.

if this is an IMX /IPX why not setup user ID's and Passwords with access levels instead of deleteing files? (auidl / auidn)

He himself does not know how to use the Mat terminal or any of our equipment. The other IT group has friendly staff that personally I get along with just fine. I just found out today that he would like them to gain access so they can mess up and call us for help. He had a huge fight with the other IT manager and things were said that shouldnt of been said and basically it seems he doesnt want to just have peace but he wants some revenge, So this is what he plans to do. Ackwardly he's willing to risk out gaming revenue go down just to teach them a leason.

I've thought of that myself but what's the need if he has a different intention. I thought he really wanted them to get to know how to properly administer this PBX.

I knew there would probably be a way but as I said I've never had to do it myself.

Auidl/auidn - the grade box is ineffective and has been since release 9 when it was introduced.

set him up with a user id and create a "special" install on his machine. once installed go to the IMXMAT folder and inside the "bin" folder you will find the commands. Delete the ones you don't want him to have. leave him dcon, andd, dstn, and a few list ups he might just be happy.
