Hey NEC experts

I have a client who has an NEC UMG 2400 IMS equipped with 8 E1 with CAS Signaling (PA-30DTK). (4 As Input and other
4 as output.)

nowadays Telecommunication company (PSTN Provider) force all customers to change CAS to PRI. Then my customer needs to do this changes.
Now the question is:

1- Has this Sw. (which it's version is 6) ability of upgrading?

2- Can we change E1 CAS to PRI in this switch? Or should suggest a new switches to them as a gateway between PSTN with PRI links and IMS2400 using CAS links?

Thanks alot

Australia is currently going through the upheaval of the discontinuation of analogue indial and a number of older 2400 users are going ISDN using protocol converters. The solution I have seen and know works is using a Tadiran system to front end the arrangement. I have only seen it done so I am nt totally informed on the nuts and bolts of it but I may be able to find out. The main thing is that the Tadiran doesn't answer the call till the 2400 user answers and doesn't start the charging cycle if the called party is busy. Let me know if this sounds right for you and I will see what I can find out!

thnx buddy

but i couldnt understand the way of connection, what you mean is Tadiran system will host the PRI cards --- but what is the way to connect to 2400 IMS? there are CAS cards there..

I will see if I can find out that for you but I haven't been involved with the actual setting up of this. NEC wouldn't get involved with this and in fact I believe their sales people tried to say this wouldn't work. However I have heard that they have done something similar using an 8500 platform. However I again don't know how sucessfully. The reason I offered the Tadiran solution is that a Tech I know and trust tested this and says it works. I have not had the chance to check NEC's solution due to my recent parting of the ways with the company.
