Good morning! We've been a long time NEC City with all sorts of NEC systems utilizing one Centralized NEAX AD-40 voicemail. We're slowly migrating to Call Manager throughout and are wondering if we can have the NEC users use the Unity system with a Q-SIG or other sort of connection until we change them out to Call Manager and Unity.
Thank you!

Yes you can use QSIG or a PIMG/TIMG on the CISCO side. If you want MWI to work with QSIG you will need your NEC to be release 15 or later (I am assuming you got an IPX2400).

The QSIG option requires later releases on the NEC which may be a hefty upgrade.

The PIMG or Analog integration route is fairly cheap and simply but requires a Serial link to the NEC.

We use the analog integration method. We have 24 analog ports on the NEC connecting to 2 (12 Port) Dialogix Cards on the Call Manager side.

The integration works well. MWI lights and there isn't an issue with CPN info being transmitted.

We use the QSIG integration through CallManager for our Avaya S8700.

Thanks for the helpful information. It's good to know we can do it if and when the time comes.

We are migrating to Cisco CM (5.1.3) also and are using Unity with the Exchange integration. We are looking at options to network the existing Audix VM with Unity via VPIM. I am also looking at sending the Avaya users directly to Unity for their voice mail.

How is the coverage setup in the S8700 to cover to Unity for VM? We are running Comm Mgr 3.0 with a MAP5 Audix.

Thanks for any info you can supply.
