Hello Fellow Tek-Tips Techs,
I wonder if anyone has experience in changing the System Intercom Tones. I know this is done in 80-01-02 (Drop down menu and select "Special Dial") I typically change this to:

Unit - Basic Tone - Duration - Gain Level
1 - Tone 2 - 255 - 32
2 - No Tone - 0 - 0
3 - No Tone - 0 - 0
4 - No Tone - 0 - 0
5 - No Tone - 0 - 0
6 - No Tone - 0 - 0
7 - No Tone - 0 - 0
8 - No Tone - 0 - 0

This is done so that the customer doesn't confuse Dial Tone with System Intercom tone. I've has customers in the past input "System Codes" by accident when they were meaning to dial a phone number. This has cut down on a lot of service calls for weird items like mystery call forwards or DND, etc. This usually works with no issue on digital phones, IP phones however I have not had good luck with (at least on the SV8100 side) I'm installing a new customer that has three IP phones and I'm not sure how one of them got this Special Dial system intercom tone, the other two don't have it, just normal dial tone. I talked with NEC NTAC about it, and they say that there is a way to change it but IP phone go off of their own set of tones built into the IP Phone. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
-iron

If you know the ip address of the ip phone you can log into it using a web browser and change settings. The log in is the same as logging in through the phone when you first set it up.

belevedere,
I’m familiar with the web programming of the IP phone. I’ve been through the settings (both web and IP phone programming) would you happen to know which specific item that is needing adjusting? I musta set it on one phone without realizing it. Cause again one IP phone pulls those tones while the other two IP phones do not.

Thanks,
-iron

I'm not sure what they did to change their dial tone frequency on their own. I was thinking of the incoming ring tone. 80-01-02 is the only place I can find for dial tone frequency.
Logging into the IP phone to change options is more flexible with the 9300 phones.
Have you tried setting the phone back to factory values, then setting them up again?
