Hello,

We recently upgraded to the SV9100 with DT820 phones. I have a user who purchased a Plantronics CS510 headset. Our local NEC vendor told us to purchase the APN-91 (EHS) for that headset but the APN-91 had a wire on it that the DT820 didn't have a port for. From what I can determine, the APN-91 is for the DT830, not the DT820. In the DT820 manual it references the APD-80 (EHS) so I purchased that and hooked it up to the Headset port on the phone. I also programmed Function Key #4 as 05 - Headset. So far the headset is working but the user has to manually press the Function Key to answer or make calls. It was my understanding that the (EHS) was supposed to automate this. I'm hoping this is a configuration issue and not a compatibility or not supported issue. Any insight/assistance is appreciated on this.

Thank you,

Frank

Not sure if this helps, but...
When using the 8 button Desi-less IP terminal (8IPLD), you must use the Plantronics APD-80 EHS cable, and a compatible Plantronics Wireless headset.
(Note: Digital Telephones use a WHA adapter, and not EHS Cable)
In addition to this, once the cable is connected to the Plantronics Wireless Headset base, and to the phone’s Headset jack, you must also do the following:
1. Go into system program 15-07 and assign a Function Key type 05 Headset Key to any of the IP telephone’s available 32 function keys.
2. Optionally you may name that key “Headset” in PRGM 15-20, for that extension.
3. Next go into the IP Terminal’s configuration and enable EHS Headset by the following steps:
1. a. Press the fixed Menu Key, then select 0 for Config:
2. b. Enter password 6633222 and press ok to enter the phone's configuration.
3. c. From the programming menu select 3 for Maintenance Settings.
4. d. From Maintenance settings select 4 for Adjust.
5. e. Select 2 for EHS Headset.
6. f. Select 2 for Enable, then press Ok.
7. g. Press Exit, Exit, Save.
8. h. After a few seconds the phone will reboot.
Once these settings have been made, you may then go off or on hook via your wireless Plantronics headset by the press of the key on the side of the Plantronics headset.

That did it! I had everything up to Step 3. That is what I was missing and couldn't find in the Feature/programming manuals. Thank you so much!

Hi belevedere,

I am having an issue with this regarding one phone. We have three that use these headsets and I cannot get one of the headsets to work. Even after following your procedure I am still having issues. The problem so far is two fold:

1) When the user presses the headset button or lifts the headset off of the cradle, the Headset Line Key illuminates and a dial tone is present. But when the user presses the headset button or returns the headset to the cradle, the Headset Line Key stays illuminated. I have swapped the headset and cradle with other working phones and the problem does not follow the headset which leads me to believe it is something with the phones configuration.

2) Echo - So when I call someone from this problematic headset, the call recipient hears an echo. The echo is only when they talk so they are hearing their own voice. I cannot hear the echo on my end. I have tried moving the EHS and the CS510 to other phones and the problem does not follow, the problem stays with the DT820.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
