We are going to be upgrading our 2400 to an SV8500 in the next few months or so which is no problem, but we also have a CUCM that we will be phasing out with roughly 350 users on. I was wondering, to save money, if we could use our 7900 series Cisco phones on the SV8500.

Are the 7900 phones just standard SIP phones? If so, the SV8500 is capable of running 3rd party SIP phones. You need to have Standard SIP license purchased and installed for each one of those phones. This is different from the SIP endpoint licenses neeeded to run the DT700 NEC SIP phones, but nevertheless, works.
