Hello,

I've been a long time lurker first time poster, was wondering how I can accomplish something. We have users that are asking if there is a way to display their caller ID when they dial out instead of showing a company telephone number. Does anyone know how to accomplish this? I guess what I am asking is if my number is 123-456-7891 and my company number is 222-222-2222 how do I get the phone system to display my actual telephone number 123-456-7891 instead of my company number?

Greetings Christian,

On the SV8500, when I need to change the Caller ID/Mask for one of my phone numbers, I use the ACPNCL command. I recommend you run an LCPNCL command first, to get a list of what's currently configured. (TYPE=1)

Then look at your existing patterns. Follow the pattern to a make a change, using the ACPNCL command.

Also, note that you'll need an entry for each Outgoing External Route (OGRT) configured.

In our environment, our RCPN (Received Calling Party Number) is typically our 5 digit extension. However, you can use wildcards (sort of). If my RCPN is 12345, a change will affect that extension. If my RCPN is 1234, a change will affect 12341, 12342, 12343, etc.

Hope that makes sense. Good luck!

Bill

Thanks Bill, it looks like every phone is set up the same in the LCPNCL command. I notice that just about every phone I have come across receives a phone mask of our company number. Is it possible that our provider is masking all calls that go outbound? I tried digging in the outgoing external route but I didn't see anything come up in the listup.

Just like Bill, we also use the ACPNCL command. Here is some additional information for you.

For a given outgoing route, I set my company's main number as the caller ID. I do this with the ANCP and ACND commands. These 2 work together, and with them, you can specify that all outgoing calls from all stations on that specific route show the caller ID you set. This is what generic caller ID that is normally the main business number for the company. So probably it is already set in your case, and that's why just about all of your phones show your company's number.

Then you use the ACPNCL command to set something different for "some" of the stations (or all if you wish). With this, you can specify what extension shows what caller ID on what outgoing route.
