Hey guys. I have 6 NEC SV8500's, S8, and we have 2 of them set to changover to the standby CPU at night. The other 4 do not, and we do not change TDSW on any of them.
I cant find any good info on what best practice here is. My instincts tell me that they should both changeover on a regular basis...maybe not daily, but weekly maybe? Would hate to need the redundancy only to find out something is corrupt or not functional!!
What are your set for? Sys 1 index 89...if that helps :)

To be pro active and take advantage of the full redundancy you should have them change over regularly. I would choose weekly and an evening before a day where the customer's call traffic is lighter and if a disaster occurs you can get there the next morning. I would not choose a Friday or any weekend day. TDSW should also be changed over.

Anyone with other suggestions?

As usual, Belevedere gives good advice.

Some other bits to look at:

Programming:
ASYD
SYS = 1
Index 62
Bit 6 and Bit 7 = how often is this required to be done, daily, weekly, monthly, or never
Index 87 and 88 = what time of the day is it required to be done.
Index 89
Bit 3 =1
Note: Index 89 and 90 control other options that will be preformed during Routine Diagnostics.
