The phone will not ring for internal or external calls. Just lights up when a call comes in. This only happens with 3 phones we have in a separate building and I have tired to play with ring tone settings with no luck. does anyone have any other suggestions?

The instructions on page 130 of this manual is the only thing I have tried.
The other phones in our main building work just fine, but the 3 phones in the building next to ours does not work.

Is MB 22-06 assigned to ring for those extensions? And are they in the same ring group as the other phones? 22-04.

belevedere,

I am not sure about the ring/hunt groups OR how to check the MB 22-06 is assigned. I assume this has to do with 'programming' of the phone, in which I do not have any knowledge in how to check OR get into that part of phone system to check.

What needs to be checked is how the system is programmed for those extensions. I suggest you look for an NEC experienced tech/dealer. The Aspire system programs up the same as the SL1000/SL1100/SL2100/SV8100/SV9100/IPK-II/UX5000 systems. They all used the same programming format. Any dealer/tech familiar with one of those system should be able to help you out.
Aspire manuals can be downloaded from

belevedere ,

Thanks for your response. Could you provide any guidance on how to access the programing options? Is it something that can be accessed from the physical phone OR do I have to access it from the Punch Down pad for the phone lines somehow?

This system is programmed from either the PCPro maintenance program, or through a phone. You may be able to find a copy of PCPro, the system has been discontinued and is out of factory support. Aspire manuals can be downloaded from

belevedere,

thanks for the guidance. I got the aspire software manual and the NEC software manual. I have been able to access the programming mode from the desktop phone.
I have checked the following settings from the phones that do ring TO the phones that do not ring.

KST RINGER EXT
KST RINGER INT
INC RINGER TYPE
INC RING GROUP
STATION TYPE
STATION GROUP
ALM SENSOR RING
I-ICM RING DATA
I-ICM RINGER
DELATED RINGING
EXT-SPK RINGING
EXTENSION GROUP

All of these settings are the same for phones that Ring and the phones that don't ring.

NOTE: I know you mentioned to check setting MB22-06, but I have not been able to find a reference to this setting in the manuals.

Do you have any other ideas OR suggestions I can try?

Check your button programming. Look for a headset key. If you press a headset key the phone will only ring to the headset, but the buttons will still flash. Also make sure the ring volume is not turned all the way down.
MB 22-06 = Normal Incoming Ring Mode to define whether or not an extension should ring for the Normal Incoming Ring Mode.
Has the non ringing phone been swapped with a working phone?

No Headset Keys on this model. For the Non ringing phone(s), I have not replaced them ( 4 total).

Our setup is like this. We have 2 buildings right next to each other. Building 1 is where all of the phones (10+) ring just fine(outside calls, paging, transferring). Building 2 has 4 phones that do not ring (outside calls BUT paging and transferring works) but flash when calls come in through our 6 lines shared between both buildings. Building 1 has a 'punch down patch panel' AND Building 2 has 'punch down patch panel'. The entire system is hooked up to a centrex system in Building 1. All of our phones are the same model NEC R92753A iseries 22b .

If the CO lines are punched down to both systems at the same time, there is probably not enough ring voltage/current to ring the second site.
Try removing a line from system 1 and test it to system 2.
I'm assuming you do not have them networked together.

The Ring voltage/current theory sounds good, but the phones in Building 2 have full contrast displays AND the lights on the phone light up during calls. I do not have the proper tools to remove any punch down panel wiring and Re-punch the same cable. The Punch down patch panel is in the basement of Building 2, should I be looking for some power source that feeds it? I ask, because an employee who has been here longer than I stated the phones used to ring before I got to the company. Since I have been here, our phone Vendor tech person has punched down 1 additional phone in Building 1 AND 1 new phone extension in Building 2 that feeds to data port as well.

Central office lines are powered by the central office, using Bell Labs specs. Should be ~-48vdc @26-50mA. Ring voltage is ~75-90VAC. You cannot boost that into a phone system.
If it worked before, I would remove the connections that the previous tech made and test.
