Hello,

We have a NEC NEAX2000 IVS PBX that recently suffered from a power failure. We have the system back up and running but all outside calls show up as DDD on the user's phones.

How does one turn Caller ID back on system wide?

Thank you

A power failure should not have altered the program. Have you checked with your carrier? What kind of trunking do you have? PRI? Potts?

You'll have to excuse my ignorance. I know very little about the system or PBX's in general but I have been tasked with overseeing it's functions.

We have not checked with the carrier. I will look into this. The users tell me it was working fine before the power issue and I recall it working fine beforehand as well.

I wish I knew this information. How would I go about determining the trunk type?

Thank you for any and all help. It is greatly appreciated.

A PRI would have a circuit card installed the has either T-1, or PRI silk screened on the component side of the card. It would most likely be installed towards the right side of the card slots. Analog trunks use COT cards and they too would be identified on the component side of the card. As for trouble shooting analog trunk caller ID, you would need a butt set (telecom test set). For analog caller ID, your carrier sends a frequency signal between the first and second ring cycle. You can listen for the FS signal using a butt set. That signal carries the CID information.
If you are unequipped to perform these tests, then I suggest you call in your vendor for service.
