The PABX model doesn't have a manual and I wasn't taught how to operate and troubleshoot. Incoming calls are ok but occasionally, I can't make outgoing calls. I've tried to change me28, cp46, and 8cotal with spare cards but nothing happened. How do I fix this and what may be the reason for this problem? Any help is highly appreciated.

Ok so there is a programming guide here....

But the manuals for this were never on line. you can get a guide by using the ICS140 manual as the programming was just an evolution of the older systems. Register on the site of the link and ask there if you can't find the manuals for the 140.

First question though would be for more info on the problem, do you get a trunk on the first eight attempts and then nothing as it may be that there were more trunks in the outgoing group and the system is still trying to seize those and with enough attempts you will cycle back to the connected ones. Set a phone up near your Mat terminal and run DCONX for that phone and just keep seizing trunks till you get the problem. this may well show the problem ports. You can then just use MBTK to take them out of service till you can work out if they need deleting or fixing.

@OzzieGeorge That seems to be the problem. Originally, there are 20 trunk but now, only 5 are connected. (The company decided to disconnect 15 from service provider then this happened) The first 10 attempts give me 3 connected lines non-consecutively. There is no MAT (or does it need to have one?) so I cant know which lines are disconnected.

You need a MAT terminal or a technician with it on his laptop. You can't program this system any other way!

There should be a circuit busy out switch for each circuit on the card. Look for an 8 position piano key type of switch. Busy out the un-terminated circuits. Push the individual circuit switch towards the board to busy it out.

Belvedere, can you remember the LED indications for a disconnected trunk as the OP has no way of finding out which are in service and which are out of service!

I must admit I had forgotten about the switches! The only other option is to busy them out one at a time and see if it improves things.

Busy out one at a time is a cheaper option than finding a dealer that still has the older 2400 MAT software. A solid LED is a trunk in use, flashing is a port not assigned or busied out in software. Unlit is a trunk in idle state.
It would help if you know the direct trunk select code. We usually use ## + 0XX (3 digit route number) + 0XX (3 digit trunk number). No dial tone = no trunk.

@belevedere @OzzieGeorge it worked! Thank you so much! I've seen the switch but I focused on the software and looked for technicians who can provide MAT for us but everyone demanded a terminal. All disconnected line are now busy out. (I used a keyphone to trace the disconnected trunk then busy them out)

My other question is, how do I assign different active lines to trunk? I tried to connect a new line to a working trunk but it stayed solid LED, no dial tone. Also, is it possible to reactivate the disconnected trunk and connect new lines?

Now you will need a MAT terminal. There is very little you can determine about the trunk route programming without one. Loop vs. ground start trunks is a program setting. You may be connecting loop start trunks to ground start routes, or visa versa. Connecting trunks is just cross connections to the proper LENs. A MAT terminal is essential to administering this system.

Belvedere may be able to confirm but you may also need a license or dongle to run the MAT. Here in OZ no licencing or dongles were ever required but I think the US was different. Try asking at the link above as (if they have it) they will have the license free version.

me28, cp46 - these cards are from an early generation of the NEAX 2400. It did not need a dongle for MAT access, but it did use a DOS version. You would need an old DOS PC and the appropriate MAT software. Not for the novice. You might find a dealer or vendor that still has one.

Thank you so much for all the help! Since I cant find MAT software,I manually checked the trunk for open lines then transferred new lines. Thanks again!
