Hi,

I have a situation where I need to have a line appearance ring on a phone but when picking up the handset I do not want it to automatically answer that line appearance that is ringing but instead be able to make another phone call while the other line is still ringing. If I disable the ringing on the line appearance it does exactly what I need. I.e. it flashes but lets me pick up the handset without answering the call. That's what I need by with the line appearance ringing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Simon

You can turn off ringing with CMD 9001, or set delayed ringing with CMD 9003.
You need to know what line key the appearance is on.
EX: turn off ringing for line key 2 on extension 200 which has extension 202 on LK2.
9001>200,02>1 =>0 EXE
Command 9001, extension 200 line key 02 1=ring, 0=no ring.
For delayed ring, 9003>200,02>0 = delayed ringing.

Hi Belevedere,

Many thanks for your fast reply.

Understood on being able to set the ringing and that is not the problem. The problem is that if you set the line appearance to ring, as per the commands, then upon picking up the handset, it automatically answers the call when I only want that to happen with the prime line, not with the line appearance. If I want to pick up the line appearance I want to do this by pressing the line appearance button. If the ringer on the line appearance is set to off, it does not automatically answer the call when picking up the handset.

Hope that clarifies what I am trying to do.

It does work if I press the prime line first while the roll over line is ringing at which point if I pick up the handset it picks up the prime line. However, I want to do this without having to press the button if possible.

Try changing the setting in CMD 1207 for the ext -- 1207>XXXX> YY - YY is probably 15 right now change it to 01

I know this feature as ringing line preference and it is usually set so that headset equipped phones answer the line that is ringing, NEC call it Ringing Line Pickup. Now NEC are quite literal in this, if it is flashing it wont answer on pick up but if it is audibly ringing then it will. So you have two alternatives, one is to turn off audible ringing (command 9001 de extn No , Key No de 0 exe) or create a COS that does not allow this to happen, so...

Assign Service Restriction Class C for the Ringing Line Pickup.

Cmd 1207 de Extn No de 00-15 (Service Restriction Class C) EXE (note:- this should be the number of the new restriction class). Note:- if you are creating a new class, you may have to check the class you are moving them from and duplicate all other settings.

Cmd 1582 de (00-15: Service Restriction Class C assigned by CM12 Y=07) de 0 (Allow)

You can also assign Service Restriction Class C for Ringing Line Pickup by Speaker key, if required.

Cmd 1586 (00-15: Service Restriction Class C assigned by CM12 Y=07) de 0 (Ringing Line Pickup by Speaker key is
provided)
