I have a NEC 2400 IMX with MAT and I usually login with no entry for username and password. This has worked well for as long as I can remember. I also have a NEC 2400 IPX which uses MAT as well, unfortunately I cannot do the same with this switch. I can login and connect without these entries but cannot make any changes to the system. It appears that I must need an administrative level password, which would conflict with the documentation for the switch which says If you dont have one setup which I do not, do not use one. Any help with this one would be greatly appreciated. I have also asked if anyone knows the default ip address to attempt to login via lan to see if this makes a difference.

You will usually find that your maintainer or installer will set a password, however they are legally obliged to give it to you on request. IP connection won't help as the password applies to any access method CAT or MAT via any connection, modem, direct connection, handset or IP. Also I don't think there is a default setting for either IP address or password.

Down here we usually set up restricted access for the customer using thier main telephone number as the password for level 0, you could try that. There is a way for knowledgeable techs to find out the password but I doubt any reputable tech would post that on an open forum.
