I am unable to find in the manuals or user guides how to disable the Call Alert Notification on this system. Is it a system wide feature or an individual user function?
When a user is on a call and the second call comes in, they are alerted with a ring, a flashing lite, AND a call waiting beep in their ear. How do I adjust these settings?
Thanks for any help I can get on this one.

Try these MB's;
20-18-04
20-18-06
22-11-07
20-09-07
You could extend the timers, or place the extension into a default class of service to see if there was an option changed in their existing COS.

Use access codes to look at
11-11-23 Second Call for DID/DISA/DIL MLT code = 679
NOTE: This may block a second call from coming in.

I don't have any MBs that start with 20 to my knowledge, in the manuals I have anyway. What heading is 20?
I did look closely at the COS options and did not really see anything applicable.

Are you sure this is an IPK-II and not an IPK?
Press FCN/FEATURE + 3 from any idle display phone and port the version of the CPU software level that it displays.

You have version 3.02 software level. I am still not sure if you have an IPK or IPK-II. They are very different systems. If the CPU has a LAN connection on the front edge, then it is an IPK-II.
If it does not then it's an IPK. For the IPK to turn off second call notification, go to station class of service, MB 1-8-08 (call alert notification), page 3, line key 8 and make sure it is turned off for the class of service assigned to that station port.

This is great!! Thanks. I did not see that in the COS options when I looked before. I missed it.
I have been told it is an IPK-II. I see this option in my manual, will fix it today. Thanks! You
will make me look like the hero today. The users have hated this for years. I just took over the
system recently.

Well that did not really change anything. first of all, when I go to MB 1-8-08, you are correct about the position of that CAN option, but there are also, on every page SIXTEEN buttons that have options. But the manual only shows 8 buttons per page.
Anyway, I turned it off and back on, and it did not make any difference. I realize however, that there is actually only ONE call alert tone, and then the light continues to flash and the phone continues to ring. It is just the tone I had hoped to turn off.
So I looked at COS 00 and when I go to MB 1-8-08, NONE of the keys are turned on to activate ANY of the features. This makes no sense. Everyone else has COS 15 it looks like.

COS 00 is the default class for every station. If they are in class 15, then someone put them there.
If you are using a 16 button phone to program, than you will see 2 pages of options at a time. The manual is written to show programming that is done using an 8 button phone.

Are all of the stations getting this?
Are the trunks DID's and is this a second DID call coming in?
Does each extension have CAP (call appearance keys)? How many?

For DID's you need at least two CAP keys per extension so they can get a second call without using call alert notification.

This is helpful. I will go back and look again knowing that I when I am looking at page one, it is really page one and two, etc.
I am not sure if all of the stations are, I have heard many complaints. Both COS 00 phones and COS 15 phones. Again, wierd that the COS 00 phones have no options turned on at all.
Yes, DIDs. CAN is heard whether it is a second DID call or an internal intercom call.
Each extension pretty much has a CAR group with 3 to 6 appearances (or whatever you call that) i.e., 05-01 through 05-06.
They all also have at least one SIE key for their department.
CAP keys, not sure. That is different from the CAR group keys?

CAR keys are secondary extensions. They have extension numbers assigned to them. CAR keys are like loop keys. A call terminates on a CAR key and when answered it rolls to the first available CAP key, leaving the CAR key free for the next call. A second call to the CAR key jumps to the next available CAP key. If there are none then it goes to the extension. If they are all busy it give a call alert notification. If you have no CAP keys then the first call goes to the extension and the second has no place to go so you get call alert notification.

Thanks Belvedere. I finally got to go back to that job. There are no MBs that high. There is no LAN connection on the front
edge, so IPK it is. I do have CAP keys and CAR keys on all of the phones. When I turn off the CAN in MB 1-8-08 and a second call comes in, there is only a busy signal. That's not good.
I realize there is only ONE CAN beep when that second call comes in, but it seems to drive these people crazy. So I still need some assistance on this.

Also, is there a way to set different timers for the CFW/BNA for an internal incoming call and a different timer for an external incoming call?

Thank you.
